Description from the seller
Fascinating advertising poster for the famous Parisian theater Folies-Bergère, titled 'La Danse du Feu.' The artwork depicts a dancer enveloped in flames, swirling in a dynamic vortex of movement and color, in perfect Belle Époque style. The first edition of this poster dates back to 1897.
This is a later edition, probably from the 1970s.
The 'Chéret' signature visible at the bottom calls to mind the graphic language of Jules Chéret, a master of French posters, who was widely imitated by artists and printers of the time.
The poster features the characteristic lithographic traits of French theatrical posters: warm colors, flowing lines, strong visual impact, and an atmosphere of spectacle reminiscent of dance and variety shows at the Folies-Bergère.
