Penderyn is the first distillery in Wales for 100 years. The former Welsh Whisky Company was located in Frongoch, near Bala, 180 km north of Penderyn.

Bottles of Royal Welsh Whisky now sell for several thousand pounds. In honor of its predecessors, a new Penderyn "Icons of Wales" Single Malt Whisky (#6 in the series) has been modeled after an original 19th-century bottle. The edition was officially launched on St. David's Day.

Icon # 6
700ml -- 43%
Delicately smoky and peaty with aromas of vanilla, bright red berries, and salted caramel.
The initial hints of gentle peat smoke become increasingly dominant. Sweet, smoky toffee/caramel notes, a hint of crushed black pepper, malted barley, and the soft sweetness of fudge.
The smoky character slowly dissipates like morning mist, leaving behind a lingering, delicate vanilla note.

Icon # 8
700ml -- 46 %
With the Hiraeth whisky, whose Welsh name means something like "longing for home or origin," the distillery clearly demonstrates its connection to Wales. It invites whisky fans to experience this longing for themselves in a unique single malt Welsh whisky.

The strictly limited single malt Welsh whisky from Penderyn is an outstanding whisky finished in former bourbon casks. The Penderyn Hiraeth Icons of Wales No. 8 boasts an extremely elegant nose, with aromas of seductive vanilla, raisins, toffee, lemon and lime zest, and a hint of oak. Its palate is characterized by fruit, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg, with a smooth and slightly malty finish.
