Empathy arises from the union of the great tradition of blown glass and Artemide's LED technology. The strong interest in the expressive potential of the material led to collaborations with master glassmakers, to gain full control of the particular plasticity of Venetian glass and to work on the balance between surface and light, between subtle densities and transparencies. The result is clear, pure objects that are, in every sense, unique pieces crafted through artisanal work.
Transparency and opacity are skillfully balanced to produce a glass that reflects and diffuses light without dazzling or losing efficiency. The result is an optical device with its heart in a high-performance LED light engine, which is separated from the glass emissive body to enhance thermal and performance efficiency. The light is controlled with maximum efficiency and guided to the glass diffuser through a transparent light pipe with a very low absorption coefficient.
