Juan Bayón Salado was born in Logroño on June 24, 1913. He died in Bilbao on April 2, 1995.
In 1918, he/she moved to Bilbao.
He studied at the Bilbao School of Arts and Trades, with Professors Don Federico Sáenz and Don Angel Larroque, until May 1936.
In 1941, they celebrate their first exhibition in Bilbao.
In 1942, he exhibited in Zaragoza, where he first used the pseudonym Bay Sala in signing his works; that same year, he also exhibited in Logroño and Bilbao.
In 1943, he participated in the National Fine Arts Exhibition with the painting 'Puerto de Motrico' and held exhibitions in Barcelona and Bilbao.
In 1945, he participated in the National Fine Arts Exhibition with the painting 'The Abandoned Mine.' The same year, he took part in the 1st Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition in Bilbao with the works 'Frondous Banks' and 'The Abandoned Mine,' winning the Gold Medal from the Honorable Bilbao City Council. From that date, he has not participated in any competitions again.
1945. Founding Member of the Vizcayan Artistic Association.
1948. Exhibition '35 Paisajes Vascos' at the Witcomb Gallery in Buenos Aires; also presenting it in Madrid.
In the spring of 1950, he moved to Paris and used the pseudonym Jean Salabet during the 1950s, signing his paintings 'J. Salabet'. He established his residence in Paris until the end of 1969.
Over these 20 years, he/she not only exhibits periodically in Paris but also holds exhibitions in Madrid and Bilbao.
In 1968, it held exhibitions in Tokyo and Paris.
He participated as a guest at the 16th and 17th Toile Salon of Paris, hanging his works alongside those of Jean Cocteau, Dalí, Raoul Dufy, Picasso, Utrillo, Vlaminck, etc., with a total of 35 artists.
Since 1969, when he permanently returned to Bilbao, he has regularly held exhibitions in Bilbao, Madrid, and Barcelona; spending long periods painting in Holland, France, Italy, the USSR, Belgium, and Ireland.
In 1984, he was awarded the Nervión Gold Palette.
In 1985, I was invited to the exhibition 'Current Masters of Spanish Painting' for the inauguration of the THE EMBASSY Gallery in Miami, Florida.
In 1991, he was named an Honorary Member of the Vizcaya Artistic Association.
