Description from the seller

Venetian School, early 18th century – Saint Anthony of Padua with the Christ Child – Oil on Panel

A refined early 18th-century Venetian devotional painting depicting Saint Anthony of Padua holding the Christ Child, executed in the warm and emotional manner. Saint Anthony is shown in his Franciscan habit, gently supporting the Christ Child seated on an open book, with white lilies as a traditional attribute. The warm brown palette, subtle tonal transitions, and tender expressions are characteristic of early 18th-century Venetian painting.

Painted in oil on a wooden panel, the work has a beautiful devotional presence. It is presented in a later gilt frame with deep red velvet, which complements the subject well.

Condition
Authentic early 18th-century condition with craquelure, wear, and minor scattered paint losses. The surface would benefit from a professional cleaning. The panel is structurally stable. The frame shows minor wear consistent with age. Please study the photos for a complete impression.

Dimensions
Panel: approx. 43 × 45 cm
Including frame: approx. 54 × 55 cm
