Description from the seller
Canvas dimensions: 65 cm x 50 cm
Frame dimensions: 72 cm x 57 cm x 4 cm
Oil on canvas measuring 65 cm x 50 cm, signed at the bottom right, depicting a bouquet of wildflowers, probably created during the artist's 'dark period' influenced by the two years spent in Madrid (in the 1950s). The paint layer remains fresh and adheres well to the support. The frame, likely original, is sturdy with some signs of wear.
Gaston Sébire was a French painter born in Calvados in 1920 and died in 2001 in Rouen. After his first exhibitions in Rouen starting in 1944, he settled in Paris in 1951, where he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon des Artistes Français, the Salon d’Automne… and with his friends from the École de Paris at the Galerie Charpentier. Other galleries opened their doors to him. He expressed his art across various fields, including engraving, lithography, and also in ballet set designs.
Based in Rouen, he was appointed in 1973 as the 'Official Painter of the Navy'.
Her works meet great success in the United States and are featured in numerous collections, both private and public: Museum of Modern Art Paris, Puteaux, Clermont Ferrand, Rouen, Trouville, Syracuse, Madison (USA), Casa Velasquez in Madrid.
Careful packaging and tracked international shipping with insurance.
