Clement Quinton (1851-1921) - Frans landschap met koeien

Clément Quinton, also known as Clément-Henri Quinton or Charles-Henri Quinton, was a French painter and engraver born in Paris on April 24, 1851, and died in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés on April 17, 1921.

Little is known about the life of this painter, but we know that he was a student of Léonard Saurfelt, a painter who settled in Varenne-Saint-Maur shortly before the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 [1]. He exhibited at the Salon from 1879 and achieved some success with his landscape paintings [1].

He mainly painted landscapes of the Pyrenees, Limousin, Brittany, and Barbizon. He preferred a luminous palette and began his canvases on location, outdoors, before finishing them in his studio in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés [2].
