Handsome, and complete two volume set by Anne Pratt ((1806 – 1893) was a botanical and ornithological illustrator and author). Illustrated with ninety-six colour plates to each book. Published by Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, London, 1857. Matching volumes in red cloth boards, with gilt lettering and decorative floral designs to fronts and spines. All page edges gilt.
Book Dimensions: 15 x 12 and Number of Pages 192 + 195 including ‘List of Flowers in both Volume’.
Condition
The two volumes are beautifully bound, designed and illustrated. Very good set with firm bindings. External covers are clean and in nice shape, and with light wear to corners and to head and foot of spines. Internally; in very nice condition indeed. Old inscriptions dated 1865 with neat ink on front blank free endpaper pages of both volumes. Inner hinges are very good. All pages are tightly held at the gutter. The text and plates are clean and bright (Excellent Set & Nice Gift Idea!) (Please see pictures).
