The story of the historic leader Goffredo di Buglione, who, at the invitation of Archangel Gabriel, takes command of the army and leads the final attack against Jerusalem. Each canto is described by the topics of Vincenzo Imperiale. It is preceded by a biography of Tasso taken from the Eloges of Lorenzo Crasso and the Allegory of the Poem. At the end, there are 'All the entire stanzas that the author rejected in this book.' Full parchment binding. Beautiful allegorical frontispiece illustrated with the figure of Tasso. Title page in red and black. Illustrated with twenty copper engravings in black and white, full-page, at the beginning of each of the twenty cantos. Dimensions 14x8 inches, 550 pages.
