The first edition of the greatest rarity, of this important treatise on numismatics, the first of its kind devoted to French royal coins, from Louis the Pious to Louis XIV.

The illustration consists of a title page engraved by Ertinger, with a profile of Louis XIV in a medallion, three vignettes at the beginning, 59/59 plates of coins, and numerous figures of medals within the text. (Checked and complete)

Also complete with tables containing year by year the prices of the mark of gold and silver since the year 1144, the name of the species, their law, their weight and their value, followed by the table of contents.

Havana calf leather, with a back featuring nerves, decorated with rollers and large boxes with gilded decorations, a title piece in red morocco, rollers at the cuts, mottled edges. Period binding.

Condition: three wormholes at the back (toward the head cap and the bit), a pierced corner. Very fresh interior. Item in very good condition.
