Description from the seller
Joop van Leeuwen
1962 The Hague
Santa Claus with presents
oil on panel
Last July 2022, there was a panorama exhibition of Joop van Leeuwen at Galerie Gabriels on Noordeinde in The Hague.
There is also a book with his work published.
At a young age, his drawings and oil paintings stood out positively. During his school years, he visited the well-known museums of The Hague almost daily (the Mauritshuis and the Gemeentemuseum The Hague). There, he painted and drew from famous masters. Joop studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (1981-1984). Van Leeuwen painted and exhibited independently during his student years. Renowned art dealers in The Hague regularly purchased his works during these years. It was also during this period that Van Leeuwen created his first impressionist beach scenes. His beach scenes, winter landscapes, and cityscapes were very well received. Recognized galleries sold his works.
He receives an assignment from Rockart museum in Hoek van Holland to create paintings of some well-known Dutch artists. This museum showcases the history of Dutch pop music from around 1950 to the present. For this, Joop van Leeuwen creates characteristic portraits of 12 famous pop stars, including Anouk, Andy Tielman, Herman Brood, Boudewijn de Groot, and André Hazes. Joop van Leeuwen's beach scenes are still very popular.
The painting is carefully packaged and sent by registered mail.
