Mortefontaine, suite nervalienne, illustrated by Christian Caillard and authored by Francis Carco, is a French 1st edition of 81 pages published in 1950 by the Cercle Lyonnais du Livre on vélin pur fil du Marais, limited to 172 copies with 24 original etchings and numbered n°9/130 for Paul Lardanchet, in sheets with illustrated cover, slipcase and case, in very good condition.

Very beautiful work for bibliophiles published by 'Le cercle lyonnais du livre' and printed by Daragnès.
Final edition of Mortefontaine, adorned with 24 original drypoints by the artist Christian CAILLARD (1899-1985).
Limited edition of only 172 copies, all on pure Marais filament vellum; one of the 130 printed in the name of each member of the Cercle, this one for Mr. Paul Lardanchet, bearing No. 9.
In sheets, illustrated cover, slipcase, and case.

Master of popular literature and pioneer of the noir novel, Francis Carco was born in Nouméa (New Caledonia) on July 3, 1886. Poet, storyteller, critic, playwright, and novelist, his youth was spent amidst the bohemia of the Latin Quarter and Montmartre hill. In 1923, the Académie française awarded him the Grand Prix du roman for The Hunted Man. In 1937, he was elected a member of the Goncourt Academy. He died in Paris in 1958.
