Bookends - Marble, Zamac

Very beautiful Art Deco-era bookends depicting, on a veined gray marble base, a folkloric couple (from the Netherlands or the Eastern Europe or Russia region... a young man and a young woman).

The characters are made of zamak, an alloy primarily composed of zinc with added metals like copper.

The hairstyles of the girl and the boy evoke Eastern roots. The creation of this couple is of rare finesse.

The set is in very good condition, just noting a small chip on one of the corners of the bookend representing the man and a few scratches on the same bookend.

Very original.
