Natura morta con frutta is an 18th‑century oil painting by a Flemish School artist from the Netherlands, measuring 75 by 97 cm, depicting a still life with fruit and a central silver goblet, unsigned and in good condition.
Description from the seller
In the 1700s, it was the golden age of still life, particularly in Northern Europe (but also in Italy and Spain).
There is a remarkable demand for this type of paintings, mostly from a new audience of middle-class buyers.
The great increase in demand favors a process of specialization, with the identification of 'subgenres' related to the predominant content of the paintings and with specific names.
Artists, therefore, specialize in creating still life works that feature themes such as food, flowers, musical instruments, and other objects that constitute a particular type of still life known as vanitas (a theme often alluded to by still lifes in general).
Our work depicts a still life with fruit, featuring a silver mug at the center.
In the work, some technical features are noticeable, including the wide range of colors that, combined with the play of transparencies, create chiaroscuro and reflections.
In the shadowed world of the era, the artist contrasts luminosity and chromatic innovations, alternating with virtuosity and interweavings of both stylistic and chromatic nature.
Conditions: Excellent condition.
Measurements: 75x97cm.
