Exquisite Japanese Porcelain Charger Plate.
This magnificent Japanese porcelain charger plate (diameter 30 cm, height 3.7 cm) is in general very good condition with no chips or cracks, making it a highly desirable collector's piece. There are at some points minor enamel loss (See last 2 photos).
The plate features a vibrant, complex design, characteristic of the Imari style. The face is richly decorated in the Kinrande (gold-decorated) palette, utilizing bold colors like deep cobalt blue, iron red, and lush gilding.
Key Decorative Elements:
Central Medallion: A dynamic motif of a mythical creature/dragon encircled by stylized clouds and flora.
Segmented Border: The face is divided into elegant fan-shaped reserves and diamond-shaped cartouches.
Fan Reserves: Depict finely rendered scenes of seated figures (likely Bijin) enjoying the landscape, possibly under a blooming plum or cherry tree, highlighted by extensive gold work.
