Louis Dourand's limited-edition Giclée titled Icon Made of Us, Nike Shoes, a 60 × 42 cm abstract pop artwork from Italy, signed by hand, 2025 edition x/100, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
This artwork depicts a large Nike sneaker, created not through traditional lines or brushstrokes, but by aggregating many tiny human figures. The people, arranged in a compact and orderly manner, outline the contours, shading, and details of the shoe, ultimately forming a recognizable and impactful image.
The work plays on the idea of collectivity and identity: the shoe, a symbol of movement, sport, urban culture, and mass culture, comes to life precisely through the union of many individuals, almost highlighting how iconic objects of contemporary society are the result of participation and sharing by many.
The contrast between the multitude of small bodies and the large unified figure highlights the relationship between the individual and the collectivity, inviting the viewer to reflect on the concepts of belonging, consumption, and symbolism in modern culture.
This new work arises from the creativity of the French artist Louis Dourand, known for having collaborated in the past with Santicri, in an artistic dialogue that has managed to blend different visual languages into a shared expressive vision. Santicri – with whom Louis Dourand has collaborated on several occasions – is one of the most prominent contemporary artists on the international scene.
He exhibited his works in prestigious venues such as Palazzo Grillo in Genoa in 2022 and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York in 2023.
In 2024, he was recognized among the Best-Selling Artists by Artmayeur and entered the top 3 of the most searched artists on Catawiki, alongside names like Kaws and Banksy.
