Pair of cloisonné enamel vases in copper, Guangxu period (1875–1908), titled 'Coppia a smalto cloisonné', each 11 cm wide, 11 cm deep, and 25 cm high, in multicolour with gold-toned highlights.
Description from the seller
This elegant pair of Chinese cloisonné enamel vases presents itself as a refined example of production made for export in the 20th century, probably originating from one of the artisan centers active in the Beijing area, where this technique reached one of its highest levels of quality.
The vases, characterized by the classic baluster shape, feature a golden background decorated with the typical 'cloud' motif and a rich flowering of prunus branches, a symbol of rebirth and purity in Chinese tradition. The color rendering—with vivid enamels in shades of red, blue, and green—highlights meticulous and uniform craftsmanship, further enhanced by gilded brass inserts on the neck and base. Both pieces are accompanied by carved wooden bases, contemporaneous and custom-made, which complete their display presentation.
The pair is distinguished by its excellent state of preservation, the fineness of the enameled areas, and the compositional harmony, making it a fine example of Chinese cloisonné tradition.
