-Silenus Alcibiades or Proteus,... Amsterdam, Jansz. Bleau, the gilded sunburst, 1622.
Layout: title page, title engraving, to the reader, preface, assignments (32 pages). Then Part I, 111 pages, with 51 circular emblem prints. Then Part II, with half-title, title engraving, 111 pages, featuring the double-page large print 'children's game'. Then Part III, with subtitle, title engraving, 111 pages.
Guidelines of virgin love, or the duty of maidens or the office of young women, expressed through sensory images. Amsterdam, Jansz. Bleau, at the gilded Sun Mirror, 1622.
Contents: title page, privilege, assignment to Anna Roemers, eulogies, elogium, engraving 'Vna via est', coat of arms shield (17 pages), from page 18 the main text (pages 18-124) with 44 circular engravings, ending with Harders' lament, with 1 engraving in the text.
Bound in leather cover
Condition: fair. The binding has a new leather spine with old leather applied on the back. Paper on the corners is bumped and worn/thin, with some minor tears (sometimes repaired) and a few old moisture stains, new endpapers. The book block is sturdy, and the emblematic plates are generally in good condition. The large plate 'kinderspel' has damage in the fold at the bottom of the page.
