Hukin & Heath, Birmingham - Decanter (2) - .925 silver

A rare and highly collectible matching pair of sterling silver-topped crystal whisky ‘noggin’ decanters by Hukin & Heath, Birmingham, dated 1909.
These early-Edwardian pieces combine fine English silversmithing with regimental military provenance — a category highly sought-after by collectors of British militaria and antique silver.

Each noggin is mounted with a hinged sterling silver flip-top lid, fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1909 and stamped with the maker’s mark JTH / JHM (Hukin & Heath).
Inside each lid is the lion passant and date letter confirming solid silver, not plated.

The tops are finely engraved with the heraldic crest of the Prince of Wales Regiment:
the iconic plume of three ostrich feathers, encircled by a coronet, with a banner reading:
“THE PRINCE OF WALES REG.T – DRAGON XCVIII”.
Regimental silver with such clear and crisp engraving is increasingly rare, especially in matching pairs.

The crystal bodies are hand-cut with a starburst base and remain in excellent condition for their age.
Both pieces stand on applied glass feet and display beautifully on any bar, militaria cabinet, or silver collection.
