Description from the seller
Notre Dame des Victoires - gilded plaster - late 19th, early 20th century
Professionally shipped – more than 800 five-star reviews worldwide.
This small statue of Notre Dame des Victoires is made of fine plaster and stands out for its beautiful gilding.
Maria is presented as the queen of heaven, crowned and standing on a cloud base with two cherubs at her feet. Her posture radiates calm and protection, while her gentle gaze is directed toward Jesus. Jesus, also crowned, stands on a globe with stars, supported by a column of clouds. His outstretched arms symbolize his universal presence and invitation to salvation.
The Notre Dame des Victoires commemorates the basilica of the same name in Paris, where the original statue is located. The crown on the church's facade refers to King Louis XIII, to whom the victory was attributed, and explains the name of the sanctuary. Papal permission was required at the time to depict the figures wearing a crown.
The figurine is in good overall condition and has been recently gilded.
Made according to the original by J. Cambos.
Will be shipped with track & trace.
