Description from the seller

Flower vase

Dimensions: about 60 × 40 cm
Technique: Oil on canvas
Artist: Victor Gallez (XX)

Artistic description:
This remarkable floral composition demonstrates Victor Gallez's refined mastery in the art of floral realism and texture work, within the great tradition of classical still life.
The painter depicts a generous bouquet composed of peonies, roses, and lilacs, harmoniously arranged in a transparent vase placed on a polished wooden table. A few fallen petals on the tray add a poetic touch and emphasize the ephemeral nature of the scene.
The palette, rich in shades of red, pink, white, and yellow, contrasts with the dark tones of the furniture, creating an elegant visual harmony. The light, discreet and diffuse, highlights the shapes of the flowers as well as the transparency of the glass with a keen sense of detail.

Historical and Artistic Context
Victor Gallez, a 20th-century painter, is part of the lineage of Belgian and French artists who have perpetuated with finesse the tradition of the floral bouquet, notably inherited from the great Flemish school.
Although little documented in reference works, his work stands out for an intimate, meticulous, and highly decorative approach. The vertical format, which is uncommon for this type of subject, enhances the elegant presence of the composition.

This painting will be perfect for a classic interior, a private collection, or a gallery specializing in 20th-century decorative painting.

Condition:
The canvas is in good overall condition and stable. Some superficial cracks are visible in raking light, which is normal for its age. The carved and gilded wooden frame shows a uniform patina and minor peripheral wear that does not affect the aesthetic appearance of the piece.

Decorative and collectible work
A beautiful example of floral painting, refined, colorful, and timeless, ideal for enriching an elegant decor or completing a collection dedicated to 20th-century still lifes.

The frame will be shipped via registered mail and very well protected.
