Description from the seller

Vintage wall mirror, characterized by decorations depicting porcelain cherubs and multicolored floral embellishments on the frame, with the famous 'N' crown mark, symbol of the prestigious Capodimonte manufactory.

However, the porcelain cherubs are a notable detail, and the painted porcelain, combined with the golden bow. The mirror stands out for its shaped oval frame, made of fine glossy white porcelain. The surface is adorned with delicate relief decorations, with a twisted border framing the mirror.

The side sections of the frame are decorated with exquisite polychrome floral motifs (roses, violets, azure), hand-painted with vivid pastel colors, typical of the 18th-century and Neoclassical taste. Allegorical figures: At the top, two enchanting Putti (Cherubs), finely modeled, hold a raised floral garland. The craftsmanship is of the highest quality, with lively expressions and soft drapery that enhance its artistic value.

The lower base is decorated with a majestic bow, whose visible gilding suggests the use of gold leaf or high-karat gold leaf, which beautifully captures the light.

The mirror's glass is the original antique and features a charming 'aged' effect, which is a distinctive sign of antiquity, typical of mercury mirrors or very old glass, indicating an estimated age (probably 19th century in the style of Revival Luigi XVI).

The mirror presents in overall very good condition considering its estimated age (19th century). As is typical of porcelain artifacts from this period, the following minor imperfections are noted:

Small and superficial losses of material on the fingers of the Putti, due to wear. Patina of age and small manufacturing imperfections on the porcelain, visible in some areas such as under the neck of the Cherubs.

A work of rare elegance, emblematic of the Neapolitan ceramic tradition. Ideal for collectors of antique porcelain and to add a piece of history and refinement to a classic or eclectic decor.

History of the Capodimonte brand: Capodimonte porcelain is a prestigious manufacturer originating from Naples, founded in 1743 by King Charles of Bourbon and his wife Maria Amalia of Saxony.

Period and Origin: The 'N' incornata mark was adopted to distinguish the production of the Real Fabbrica Ferdinandea, which succeeded the Real Fabbrica di Capodimonte, approximately from 1787 until the early 1800s.
