AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Jan van Oort (1921 - 2006) designed the comic character Paulus de Boskabouter during World War II, whose adventures were published from 1946 in Het Vrije Volk. Van Oort called himself 'Jean Dulieu' (the French translation of 'Jan van Oort'). Ultimately, between 1946 and 1984, approximately 8,000 daily strips were created, with some gaps. Besides those newspaper publications, Paulus appeared in color in numerous magazines and children's books (translated and published in many countries). Jean Dulieu received many awards for his work and is considered one of the 'Great Three': Marten Toonder, Hans G. Kresse, and Jean Dulieu. Dulieu was a versatile and virtuoso artist whose skill and talent matched his pursuit of perfection.

This lot contains a very good example of Boffie and Buikie in the knot. In the 1950s, people could collect pictures at Albert Heijn that needed to be pasted into the album. The offered copy is completely complete and in very good condition. It has a nice front and back cover, the original spine, the binding is still well attached, a name on the flyleaf but no other markings, and it is otherwise in very good condition. When this book is offered, it is almost always in read, damaged condition, but this copy has been well preserved.
