Peaches in the basket, a 19th‑century oil on canvas still life by Pierre Garnier (France), signed, in very good condition, with frame; framed dimensions 92.5 × 79.5 cm and unframed 65 × 54 cm.

French Belle Époque still life with peaches in the basket was created by an important representative of the Lyon flower school, Pierre Garnier (1847 Lyon - 1937). The artist studied under J. Reignier at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon (1862), exhibited his flower and fruit compositions in Lyon since 1872 and at the Paris Salon (Society of French Artists) in 1896 and 1898. His floral works are featured in the famous monograph 'Les peintres de Fleurs en France. De Redoute à Redon' by E. Hardouin-Fugier and Étienne Grafe.
