Original Yugoslav cinema poster for a Tom and Jerry cartoon programme titled Dobri prijatelji, published by Zagreb Film, 50 x 70 cm, one item, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
This is an original Yugoslav cinema poster for a theatrical programme of classic Tom and Jerry cartoons, released under the local title “Dobri prijatelji” (“Good Friends”). These posters were produced in Yugoslavia during the 1970s for children's matinee screenings and short-film compilations, and are today highly collectible due to their low surviving numbers and uniquely local artwork.
Artwork & Design
The poster features charming hand-drawn depictions of Tom and Jerry, adapted in the visual style typical of Zagreb’s cinema poster illustrators from that era.
Tom is shown holding a large wooden mallet while Jerry confidently sits near a mouse trap — a humorous and instantly recognisable setup characteristic of the series.
The bright orange framing and bold typography create a strong decorative presence, making the piece ideal both for collectors and display.
Authenticity
The poster bears the marks of Kinematografi Zagreb and Zagreb Film Zagreb, confirming its origin as an official 1970s distribution item.
These regional variants are notably different from U.S. and Western European releases, which adds to their desirability among animation collectors.
Condition
Very Good (see photos).
Colours remain bright and well-preserved
Light folding and minimal handling wear typical of original theatre use
No major tears, no writing, and no significant paper loss
Overall, a well-preserved and attractive vintage example.
Collectability
Yugoslav Tom & Jerry posters are increasingly sought after because they were printed in far smaller quantities than international versions, and many were discarded after cinema use.
This title, “Dobri prijatelji,” is especially charming due to its humorous, locally interpreted artwork and bright colour composition.
