The Lafond family is a family with over 200 years of winemaking history. They have gradually bought vineyards in the Loire. The last descendant of this family, Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, owner of the prestigious Ladoucette estate, a former Burgundian, sought noble lands to create an exceptional Sancerre and create excellent vintages with a style of bottles that his ancestors used, and to perpetuate the name, named the estate 'Comte Lafond'. This includes 35 hectares on privileged terroirs, and it was in 1993 that Baron Patrick de Ladoucette created three special vintages: the Grande cuvée Comte Lafond Blanc, the Grande cuvée Comte Lafond Rouge and the Grande cuvée rosé expressing the quintessence of the greatest Sancerres. and is now present on the finest tables.

tasting notes:
The nose is fine with notes of macerated red fruits (kirch cherry), sweet spices (cinnamon, vanilla). When aerated, blackberry and blackcurrant open up with mineral and smoky notes that speak of the terroir (the limestone cobbles). The palate is supple and silky, the wood well integrated, fine tannins, on jammy black cherry, developing notes of roasting. The finish is prolonged with notes of morello cherries, redcurrant, all in finesse .....

grape variety: 100% pinot noir, 30 - 40 year old vines, on the slopes of Orme aux Loups near the rocky peak of Sancerre on flint clay soil from the Cretaceous. Manual harvest, 70% destemming, fermentation at regulated T°S, maceration 18 to 20 days, light pressing, aging 50% in vats, 50% in oak barrels.
