Description from the seller
Under the Tree of the Sea
This oil on canvas measuring 30×50 cm by A. Candreva presents a scene suspended between poetry and minimalism, built on an essential palette where blue becomes the absolute protagonist. At the center of the composition dominates a large tree with explosive foliage, created with dense brushstrokes and dynamic shades of blue in multiple nuances, from cobalt to white lightened by the sun. The trunk, dark and sinuous, emerges from the ground like a figure gracefully bending to the left, creating an almost protective gesture.
Under the canopy, a simple swing, suspended by thin ropes, hosts two stylized figures sitting side by side. Their profiles, reduced to essence, suggest intimacy, quiet, and complicity without the need for details. The scene is set in a rarefied environment, a nearly monochromatic coastal landscape: in the background, a white and blue lighthouse rises as a silent point of reference, while small hints of sails cross the horizon lightly.
The entire painting plays on the contrast between the gray-white of the surrounding world and the luminous vitality of the tree, which becomes a symbol of refuge, memory, and connection. The minimalism of the forms accentuates the emotional impact of the composition, leaving the viewer with the sensation of an eternal moment, suspended between the marine calm and human warmth.
