Description from the seller

A set of 6 Ouchi lacquerware bowls with box

Dia14*H9(5.2)cm
Box 31.5*16*21.2cm

*大内塗Ouchi-nuri is lacquerware made in the area around Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It was named "Ouchi-nuri" after it was created by the Ouchi clan, who held great influence in Yamaguchi Prefecture during the Muromachi period.
Ouchi-nuri is characterized by an elegant design that features autumn grasses such as bush clover and Japanese silver grass painted in colored lacquer on a deep, astringent vermilion base, and the Ouchi clan's family crest, the "Ouchi diamond," painted in gold leaf. In addition, Ouchi-nuri is durable and resistant to fading, as it is repeatedly painted with lacquer.
