Description from the seller
Kampfgruppe Scherer - 105 days besieged. Records and photographs from the diary of war correspondent Richard Muck.
With many illustrations
The Battle of Cholm, also known as the Cholm Pocket, took place during World War II on the German-Soviet front in the area of Army Group North. It began on January 18, 1942, with an attack by Soviet partisans on the German-occupied transportation hub of Cholm (Russian: Холм). A few days later, the Red Army encircled the city along with its garrison. Cholm was supplied from the air for over three months before German troops were able to re-establish contact with the garrison through a relief attack in May 1942.
