Description from the seller

Rare edition of this reference work designed to offer the 18th-century reader a practical and handy synthesis of available geographical knowledge.

Organized alphabetically, it gathers the names of cities, provinces, kingdoms, rivers, mountains, and other notable places, providing concise notices for each that specify their location, political or economic importance, natural or historical curiosities, and sometimes distances from capitals or major trade routes.

The work is part of the tradition of portable dictionaries, aiming to condense the vastness of geographical knowledge into an accessible format for travelers, students, and enlightened amateurs, while reflecting the cartography and representations of the world characteristic of Europe of the Enlightenment.
