Description from the seller

N.N. - The small print Bible. Where, through various illustrations, a multitude of Biblical sayings are explained. For the entertainment of youth, and to teach them to accurately sketch every matter, call it by its proper name, and also to easily memorize the sayings of Holy Scripture. Amsterdam, Gerrit Bouman, 1736 - (12) + engravings + index - original parchment - 16 x 11 cm

Condition: very good - very neat original parchment binding with solid clasps; gatherings and some pages are somewhat loose in the block; average-quality paper (title engraving missing a piece of the side margin, one page slightly loose, a small stain, four repaired tears in the margin, missing plates 1-3, otherwise neat and complete!).

A charming example of a rare and highly sought-after picture book or small Bible.
Featuring the title engraving and a total of 147 (!) copper engravings with biblical riddles!

Please look at the many photos and see their beauty.

A method used to teach children well-known Bible texts from memory in an engaging and illustrative way, especially from the Psalms and Proverbs.
