Luxurious bilingual French-Greek edition of Hesiod's poem, illustrated with 114 original woodcuts by the French engraver and painter Paul Emile Colin (1867-1949). Among these 114 engravings, 7 are out of text; initials and colored vignettes.
This is the oldest didactic poetry text. The work concerns a dispute between the author and his brother, Persès.

Red half-morocco binding with corner decorations of excellent craftsmanship, five-rib spine, title, author, and year of publication in gilt. Gilt top. Cover and spine preserved.

Condition: binding in excellent condition, very fresh interior, rare foxing on the endpapers. Very beautiful uncut copy.
