First edition of this speech delivered by Paul Valéry, published in the collection: 'Au Voilier' with the monogram of Jean Voilier.

Limited edition of 956 copies. This one is the special print, from the first 100 copies on Arches vellum (No. 70).

Perfectly bound in a signed Y. Massénat binding in cherry half Morocco with corner pieces, cold lines along the covers and edges, a rounded spine adorned with the title in gold letters, the binder's name stamped at the bottom of the front cover, gilt head, with covers and spine preserved.

In very good condition despite some scuffs on the corners, clasps, and headbands. Interior fresh and clean, with rare tears. A fine example.

Provenance: Ex-libris of H. Yvrard stamped in gold letters at the top of the cover.
