Sirius, 1970, La Rade des Vaisseaux, Simon le Danseur T1, original page plus original preliminary page, two items, dimensions 38 cm by 51.5 cm, in good condition.
Description from the seller
'Simon de Danser' was made by Sirius for the magazine Spirou starting in 1970.
It consists of 2 parts. Made during a period when he had interrupted his other series.
This lot consists of an inked page and a preparatory sketch page for the first story.
Much later in 2006, these stories also appeared in album form.
Simon de Danser truly existed. In the 17th century, he worked his way up to become the captain of a pirate ship that returned to its home port in Dordrecht after each raid. Because of this, it was called a round dance, and Simon earned the nickname 'Simon the Dancer'.
He was by nature a Calvinist and hated the Catholics, especially the Spaniards, who were responsible for many atrocities in his country. Ships of the Spaniards were therefore his main targets.
Original plates and sketch plates of Simon de Danser by Sirius are rare on the market, making this lot especially special.
The ink plate is in good condition, made on smooth paper, which Sirius often did. Signed with initials at the bottom right.
The sketch in pencil and gouache is depicted on both the front and back. Unfortunately, the photos are not very good, but they do give an impression of the whole.
This beautiful combination is carefully packed and insured shipped. The album shown is not included.
