Max the explorer
Legal deposit: 11/1988 - ISBN 978-2-8001-6182-2
This album in 'Italian style' format compiles 285 of the best strips of Max the Explorer, the main character created by Guy Bara.
Max l'Explorateur, this pantomime character dressed as a Belgian colonist from the 1930s, is the silent paragon of press cartoons. Created in 1954 by Guy Bara, an internationally renowned cartoonist, he soon conquered daily newspapers around the world with his often absurd humor, simple line work, and his ability, through a silent language, to be understood by all. This friendly face, recognizable among a thousand, appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines, from Coeurs Vaillants to France-Soir, from Copenhagen to Kuala Lumpur, to the point of appearing in over 13,000 strips in Le Soir, where he was published until 1998.
Peanuts
In 'The Complete Peanuts 1961-1962: The Entry into the 1960s,' Schulz introduces a new character: the insufferable Frieda, famous for her 'naturally curly hair,' and her cat Faron, inert and seemingly boneless. Sally, who is visibly growing up and was just born in the previous volume, is ready to start kindergarten, which she is not particularly excited about. Linus's life is particularly eventful in this volume: he is forced to wear glasses, witnesses the unexpected return of his favorite teacher, Miss Othmar, and drags Sally into the cult of the Great Pumpkin (with regrettable consequences). Snoopy, meanwhile, becomes a compulsive zapper, befriends, to his great regret, one or two snowmen, and goes through a family crisis involving a small family of birds. Not to mention the one-sided baseball games (including a rare team victory), Beethoven's birthdays, and a hefty dose of dubious psychiatric help for five cents. This collection gathers 730 daily and Sunday strips, most of which are unpublished and many of which have never been reissued since their first publication over 50 years ago. It features a new introduction by legendary jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall and a superb layout by award-winning artist Seth.
As shown in the reference photos, these albums are very close to a new condition. The complete Peanuts collection is in a box still wrapped in cellophane. However, it should be noted that there is a dent in one corner of the box (see photos).
