New translation of the Life of Julius Agricola by Tacitus. A handwritten note on the title page and page iv attributes this anonymous translation to M. Rendu. In a comment on this sentence from the introduction, 'here is Tacitus rendered,' an old handwritten note explains, 'the author here cleverly revealed his anonymity. I learned this detail from M. Clément Rodier, who himself was told by the abbot of Lammennais.'
