Description from the seller
This is an original Yugoslav cinema poster for the 1970 western El Condor, starring Lee Van Cleef, Jim Brown, Mariana Hill, and Patrick O’Neal, directed by John Guillermin.
Printed and distributed by Croatia Film Zagreb, this poster features one of the most dramatic and visually intense Lee Van Cleef artworks created for any international release.
Artwork & Design
The Yugoslav edition uses a bold, hand-painted illustration dominated by:
a powerful close-up of Lee Van Cleef with his signature grim expression
a large revolver pointed directly toward the viewer
a blood-red background symbolising violence and chaos
scattered bodies in the distance, reinforcing the film’s gritty tone
The artwork is characteristic of 1970s Yugoslav poster design — expressive, raw, and visually arresting, making it a standout piece for collectors of westerns and exploitation cinema.
Localised elements include:
Croatian transliteration of names (“DŽON GIJERMIN”)
Croatia Film logo
Technicolor / widescreen notation (“ŠIROKO PLATNO”)
Authenticity
This is a genuine theatrical release poster, not a reproduction.
Signs of authenticity:
printed Croatia Film mark
original fold lines (YU posters were always distributed folded)
typical 1970s offset printing
standard Yugoslav one-sheet format approx. 70×50 cm
Condition
Very Good to Excellent (folded as issued).
Vivid colours
Clean and well-preserved paper
Minor fold wear consistent with age
No significant tears, no tape marks, no writing
Overall, an extremely attractive and collectable example.
Collectability
Posters featuring Lee Van Cleef are highly sought after, and Yugoslav editions are especially collectible because of their unique artwork and comparatively low print runs.
El Condor is an important title for fans of:
Spaghetti westerns and Euro-westerns
1970s action and exploitation film advertising
Lee Van Cleef’s filmography
distinctive Yugoslav poster art
These posters rarely appear in this condition.
Shipping
Will be shipped carefully folded, protected between rigid cardboard sheets, with tracking.
