"Martin Parr was a British documentary photographer, photojournalist and collector. Typical of his work is the simultaneously personal, humorous and anthropological view of everyday situations. In addition to his occupation as a freelance photographer, Parr repeatedly accepted teaching assignments. After a long debate, he became a member of the Magnum Photos agency in 1994. Campaigns ran within the agency to prevent his admission, but in the end his opponents had to bow to the democratic decision. Critics considered his photographic style too provocative and accused him of trying to make fun of others. Parr participated in over 80 exhibitions in the USA and Europe and has published over 50 books. More than twenty books have been published about himself. Parr is thus one of the most famous British photographers and is known beyond the country's borders, especially in France, but also in Germany."
