Signature: Artist’s seal on the print
Paper Size: 21 × 15.5 cm (8.27 × 6.10 in)
Artwork Size: 17 × 11.5 cm (6.69 × 4.53 in)
Frame Size: 35 × 29 × 1.5 cm (13.78 × 11.42 × 0.59 in)
Paper Material: Washi (和紙)
This is a modern Japanese woodblock print created around 2019, depicting a traditionally attired Japanese woman with a serene and composed demeanor. It carries on the classic theme of Bijin-e (美人絵) from traditional Japanese ukiyo-e.
The work employs modern black-and-white woodblock techniques: it shapes the figure with pure black-and-white blocks and clean lines, while incorporating dense geometric patterns into the hairstyle ornaments and background (echoing the textural expression methods of ukiyo-e). Retaining the essence of traditional Eastern aesthetics while embodying the concise style of modern art through simplified forms, it stands as a quintessential Japanese print that "blends tradition with modernity". An artist’s seal is affixed to the bottom right of the artwork.
This piece comes with a wooden frame and glass panel. The frame bears signs of wear, including scuffs, scratches, and peeling of the gold lacquer finish; due to the passage of time, the washi paper shows slight traces of oxidation and yellowing. The overall condition is good.
- The picture is part of the description. The color of the item may be slightly different from the picture (due to camera and screen settings).
- The successful bidder will be responsible for any customs duties and taxes (if applicable).
- This item will be mailed by the postal service of Taiwan in the form of airmail with insurance attached.
