Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Original 1944 US Army Air Forces variable density goggles for airgunner, by American Optical/Polaroid, in excellent condition, complete with the original storage tin and no certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
Very nice and difficult to find US WW2 Variable Density Air Gunner Goggles in original tin, made by the American Optical/Polaroid company. Grey rubber facemask with a rigid plastic front frame housing circular lenses. Each lens was actually comprised of two separate lenses, one of which could be rotated over the other using a centrally mounted knob. The effect of this rotation was to achieve differing degrees of density from clear through a range of pinks/reds and enabled the wearer to track targets in the vicinity of and across the face of the sun. This model does not incorporate the red plastic 'flip-down' visor which later models had (so this is NOT missing!). Used primarily by airgunners. The order number dates them to 1944.
This pair is in excellent condition. The goggles are marked 'Polariod'. Complete with the original storage tin showing minor wear from storage (AO marked).
Unique 100% original item for your US WW2 collection, a personal item that is difficult to find!
