Gerard Boersma is known for his paintings of people in museums looking at famous paintings.

This work of 20 x 20 cm shows a woman enjoying a painting by Theo van Doesburg, a key figure of De Stijl art movement together with Piet Mondrian. The name 'Counter Composition' means a break from Mondrian's strict use of horizontal and vertical lines by introducing dynamism through diagonals and tilting shapes to create illusions of depth and movement.

The work dates from 2025 and is made with acrylic on panel. Signed on the back and comes with a label of the artist as well as a Certificate Of Authenticity.

Gerard Boersma has been an internationally acclaimed artist for over 24 years well known for his colorful and detailed style of realistic painting, in which he expresses both his concerns and his love for contemporary society. His art is in museums, galleries and private collections worldwide (6 continents, >30 countries). In 2018 he showed his works alongside Warhol, Haring, Banksy and others at a group show in France. He lives in Leeuwarden and works in Makkum, the Netherlands.
