… They pile up and form the balance of ideas tinged with our feelings; they can be clear, bright, crazy, sometimes dark or light, and among them, there is always a luminous idea that lights the way to your creative freedom… The magic of this piece manifests when the switch is flipped; suddenly, everything becomes clear, and dark ideas reveal a warm glow of comfort.

Piece No. 2 from a limited series of collectible luminous sculptures; these are handcrafted in France by Designer-Artist Caroline Schilling. Each exceptional piece is unique, with variations in shape, composition, and thus dimensions, as they can be positioned in multiple orientations to alter the light diffusion and showcase their translucent curves from different angles.

This piece is signed by hand and adorned with its monogrammed signature medallion; protected in a custom pouch and accompanied by its certificate of authenticity.

Caroline Schilling's approach
A graduate designer artist from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) in Paris, her unusual works have been exhibited at the Salon Maison et Objet in Paris (Best of MOM selection), at the Collectible Salon in Brussels, as well as in galleries in Paris, Nantes, and elsewhere (Oscar, Antique Lightings...).

In her world, beauty hides where we least expect it; she believes that using the right medium is enough to reveal the extraordinary in everything around us, and it is the small details that make all the difference. In short, she perceives potential everywhere, and her creative approach values the anecdotal, the unspeakable, the ordinary, and even the insignificant waste.

Through her first collection 'WAW!', she brought to life objects and expressions that had fallen into disuse, materialized as unusual functional sculptures. Always at the crossroads of applied and fine arts, her polymorphic artist’s eye is full of surprises. With this new collection of luminous sculptures, titled 'LES IDÉES...', Caroline Schilling further invites us to change our perspective on our surroundings.

Thus, based on the paradigm that 'the best waste is that which we do not produce,' which upsets the foundations of her profession, she decides to add a soul to the bulbs that are massively discarded; in her world, these wastes are precious, and stories are woven. They represent all those ideas that are set aside while waiting for a way to tame them; this new metaphorical piece highlights the fact that among a multitude of discarded ideas, one will necessarily be luminous.

Design secret
This symbolic piece is also a tribute to her father's work, the photographer Philip Schilling alias Phisch, who highlighted the WAW! pieces from his first collection and with whom she initially developed this work.


Information on Conditioning
This handcrafted piece is unique and fragile, so it is optimally packaged in a custom-made box for secure shipping: the luminous sculpture is protected by its cotton pouch, which is itself placed in a polypropylene bucket surrounded by packing particles to cushion against any movement. The bucket is then stabilized within a custom system made of honeycomb cardboard, resembling 'levitation' (air gaps above, below, and on the sides) inside a very sturdy double-walled corrugated box, with no contact with its walls.

• Delivery Info & Recommendations
Upon receipt, it is recommended to carefully unpack the item: remove the bucket from the box using its metal handle, open it very gently by levering on the designated tab, carefully remove as much of the corn chips as possible, cautiously take out the cotton bag containing your sculpture, then place it on a flat and stable surface; orient it according to your preferences and enjoy its gentle ambient light.

According to the project guidelines: the so-called 'chips' particles made of biodegradable corn starch, as well as the cardboard elements, are reusable and/or compostable. The cotton pouch will find its place among your household linen, and the polypropylene bucket will be a perfect container for compostable waste in your kitchen; otherwise, your imagination will happily take care of their upcycling!
