Magnificent illustrated edition, based on the original texts by Louis Richard-Mounet, and illustrated with forty original etchings by Maurice de Becque (1878-1938).

Limited edition of only 200 copies. This one is among the 60 copies on Imperial Japan (No. 18), including a double set: the first state and the final state in black of the engravings.

The 40 etchings are in a richly engraved frame, and the text is set out as in the old editions.

In two volumes, quarto size, in sheets, with embossed covers, in folders and cardboard boxes.
In very good condition despite the worn case, split at the edges and patched with adhesive at the cuts, the spine of the volume II cover is split. Interior impeccable, a few pages slightly warped, but not seriously. Free of foxing.
