Description from the seller
Painting Details
Subject: The painting depicts a Southeast Asian village courtyard (kampong).
Elements: Hens and chickens scratch in the courtyard, with traditional-style buildings with tiled roofs in the background. Banana trees and clothes hanging on ropes to dry provide a snapshot of everyday life.
Style: The style of the painting is reminiscent of Impressionism, with light and movement rendered in dynamic brushstrokes and vibrant colors, typical of the Dutch East Indies school of painting.
Not much is known about the painter, and in my opinion this was painted by this painter, Ernest Dezentjé (1885–1972) who only signed it in the year 1970. Although this is not typical according to his biography, he was the one who went there and painted these things constantly, in this style, and in this era.Of course, this is just my opinion, but the painting has beautiful colors, is in extremely good condition, and is dated 1930.Framed by a master in The Hague, it is in a beautiful Art Deco frame, which greatly highlights this dynamic painting. The work is painted on a wooden board, the size of the board without frame is 31 by 43 cm.
We can post it carefully packaged, in an insured, registered package.
