Original edition (printed on November 15, 1901) of this very beautiful album resulting from the collaboration between the storyteller-historian Georges Montorgueil and the incomparable illustrator Job.
Preserved in its magnificent publisher’s cardboard case in blue percaline signed by A. Poënsin, illustrated on the upper cover with a composition of Job engraved by Fau, with a gold title on the spine, 'for the homeland' blind stamped on the second cover, and gilded edges.

A very beautiful work of historical education through images illustrated by Job, who, along with his collaborator and friend Montorgueil, advocates a patriotic view of French history in a post-Sedan disaster context during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870.

Tell the story of Théophile-Malo Corret, born in 1743 in a humble gray house in Lower Brittany, who died as the First Grenadier of the Armies of the Republic under the name La Tour d’Auvergne, on June 28, 1800.

Condition: Discreet traces on the pages, slightly past back with rubbing on the crowns and tips, rubbed corners. The hinge is slightly worn, with small tears at the hinge area on 8 leaves. The paper is normally yellowed from aging, with no foxing or very rare. A fine copy.
