Turkish origin; the Ottoman divit inkwell dated 1869, attributed as Original and in very good condition, is a bronze, finely engraved piece measuring 25 cm high, 7 cm wide and 3 cm deep with a functional lid and provenance from a private collection in France.

This exceptional Ottoman divit, dated 1286 AH (1869–70 CE), is a rare witness to imperial craftsmanship intended for scholars and scribes. Made of finely engraved bronze, it features a dated inscription (1286) on the body as well as floral and geometric decoration typical of prestige objects of the period.
The integrated inkstand, equipped with its articulated cover, is perfectly functional. The divit retains its original patina and bears witness to a learned use, at the crossroads of calligraphic ritual and the object of representation.
Provenance: private collection, France
Condition: Very good overall condition, sharp engraving, smooth mechanism.
