Famous French painter known for his dynamic and dramatic military scenes.
A. Dubuisson frequently exhibited at the Salons: (Paris 1835-1869, Lyon 1833-1864)
A magnificent painting of a Napoleonic battle. It could depict an episode from the Battle of Waterloo (1815) or a battle from the Russian campaign (1812) — two themes frequently depicted by Dubuisson and his contemporaries.
It is a major work and one of the most remarkable works by A. Dubuisson.
Oil on canvas, exceptional quality signed at the bottom right: 81x65cm.
The work is in good condition, oil on re-lined canvas, with some typical craquelures.
Original wooden frame from the 19th century. Frame dimensions: approximately 105x86cm.
The frame has missing parts and repairs; its condition is not guaranteed.
An authenticity certificate will be handed to the buyer.
