Description from the seller
Fascinating oil painting by the Spanish artist José Luis Molina Ferrer, born in 1947, depicting a suggestive coastal view at sunset. The composition features numerous boats moored in the foreground, resting on a calm and luminous sea, while in the background a coastal settlement unfolds, recognizable by the presence of a bell tower, nestled among gentle hilly terrain.
The work is characterized by a warm and enveloping palette, dominated by shades of yellow, ochre, and brown, effectively conveying the light of sunset and its reflections on the water. The brushwork is soft and layered, with a synthetic rendering of forms that prioritizes atmosphere and chromatic balance over detailed description. The painting fits within the tradition of Mediterranean figurative painting of the mid-20th century, with particular attention to luminous effects and the poetry of landscape.
