Description from the seller
Very nice, decorative but also playable vintage clarinet. It is a vintage B-flat clarinet made by the German company Karl Hammerschmidt & Söhne. This clarinet probably dates from the 1960s or 1970s and is of the 'Klingson' model.
The parent company, Karl Hammerschmidt & Söhne, was founded in 1873 in the Sudetenland, which after World War II became part of Czechia. The name 'Klingson' was used as a well-known brand (or model name) for their high-quality instruments. The 'Klingson' is no longer produced in the 21st century.
Important timelines are:
Since 1873: The family business began with the production of wind instruments.
Post-1949: After a fire in 1949, the factory was rebuilt in Burgau, Germany. The craftsmanship led to Klingson-Hammerschmidt clarinets becoming widely popular and appreciated during this post-war period.
To this day: Although the production methods and the company have evolved over generations, the name Hammerschmidt/Klingson still stands for quality. The modern Karl Hammerschmidt & Söhne still produces handcrafted clarinets.
This clarinet consists of five parts and is supplied with a mouthpiece protector, a cleaning brush, and two reeds. It is still playable but could benefit from a good maintenance session. The sound of the instrument is very beautiful (warm through the wood). It is a very attractive instrument as a decoration, but certainly also to play.
The small case has some minor damages, but it is still very sturdy and protects the instrument 100%.
The clarinet is carefully packed and insured shipped.
