Julien Le Roy in Paris
At the age of thirteen, Le Roy built his first grand clock. In the same year (1699), he moved to Paris to begin his apprenticeship. In 1713, he earned his master's degree, and in the following years, he became a member of the Paris Guild of Clockmakers. In 1739, he was appointed Court Clockmaker (French: Horloger Ordinaire du Roi) to Louis XV. Examples of his clocks can be found in various museums around the world, including the Louvre and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
An unusually rare Oignon verge clock in a silver case with a quarter repeater on the case, a magnificent white enamel dial, and a solidly crafted case. Finely crafted.
Watch case in very nice condition
Fine dial. So-called "enamel." Baroque steel hands, silver-colored. Roman numerals in their own circle. Connected minute track with Arabic numerals in front.
Winding at the IIII. Winding key for movement (right winding) and key for setting the hands on the dial center square (note: only in the direction of rotation . right - turn) available
Smooth bezel ring
Unlocking on the dial.
A tall, early Oignon verge movement with a beautifully opulent design. A large, finely crafted silver verge cock with masterful engraving. A bird is inlaid on the right and left. A ruby is set in the center. Beautiful, angular, gold-colored, so-called Egyptian pillars. Finest quality. Floral engraving on the plate. Signed LE ROY a Paris.
Quarter repeater on the case. The hours and quarter hours are chimed. Activated with a pusher. Montre Toc.
Work and repetition are functioning.
